Impact of the Perthshire Youth Work Partnership
Challenges faced by the Third Sector

It is widely recognised that the United Kingdom has witnessed a catastrophic decline in the provision of Youth Work that can be attributed to funding cuts in both Local Authorities and the Third Sector.
The Gannochy Trust and Perth and Kinross Council combined their funding in 2018 to offer five year funding contracts to the Perthshire Youth Work Partners to provide funding stability, single funding systems and a platform for meaningful collaboration. The results astounded us all.
Effects of the Youth Work Partnership
How the Partnership has impacted Youth Work across Perth & Kinross

ENGAGEMENTS
142,802 Contacts with 11 – 19 year olds
A broad range of activities engaged the interests of young people. Youth bands, coding, youth voice, walk and talk, kayaking, dungeons and dragons, and axe throwing are just a taste of what was delivered.
REACH
A minimum of 3,312 individual young people
With a school roll of 7,891, Perthshire Youth Work Partners reached at least 42% of the S1 – S6 school population of Perth and Kinross.

COLLABORATION
Greater than the sum of its parts
Collaboration between youth work partners has brought greater knowledge, shared skills and resources, and access to additional funding that would not otherwise exist.
GROWTH
Building on success
The seven Youth Work Partners have each expanded staff, volunteers, and delivery locations. They reached nearly five times as many young people in 2023/24 as they did in 2017/18.
